Alibi occurs as 1929 film written by Elaine S. Carrington, J.C. Nugent, C. Gardner Sullivan, Roland West and John Griffith Wray, from the stage play Nightstick by Carrington, Nugent and Wray. A film was directed by Roland West. Replacement titles for the film include A Right Alibi & Truncheon.

A motion picture occurs as crime melodrama starring Chester Morris, Harry Stubbs, Mae Busch, and Eleanore Griffith. Director West did much of experimentation by having healthy, music, & camera angles.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Chester Morris), Best Art Direction, and Best Picture.
